Donald Trump Jr. is pleading for Ohio Republicans to endorse gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy at their meeting on Friday, aiming to clear his path for the party’s nomination.
President Donald Trump’s son posted on X Wednesday night, calling for members of the Ohio Republican Party to endorse the former presidential candidate and entrepreneur at their meeting later this week.

“Dear Members of the Ohio Republican State Central Committee: I’m asking for you to stand with my father and endorse Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor of Ohio. You were the FIRST state party in the nation to endorse my father in the last election cycle. We will never forget your courage, loyalty, and leadership,” the younger Trump said.
He also emphasized that he believes Ramaswamy is “cut from the same America First cloth as all of them.”
“I’ve gotten to know Vivek well over the past few years. He’s a fighter, a patriot, and exactly the kind of bold, unapologetic America First conservative we need to lead Ohio back to greatness. He isn’t afraid to take on the radical left, but at the same time he’s one of our very best in being able to talk to the other side and persuade Americans about conservative principles,” Trump said.
“I understand that early endorsements aren’t the norm, but these are not ordinary times. We have a country to save, and we don’t have any time or money to waste. President Trump endorsed Vivek, in one of his very first 2026 endorsements, for a reason: We need Vivek in Ohio, and Ohio needs Vivek as its Governor. Stand with us and support Vivek at your meeting on May 9th,” he added.
Ramaswamy has been endorsed by both the president and Vice President JD Vance, an Ohioan, along with several other federal and state officials. Other GOP candidates running for governor in Ohio include state Attorney General Dave Yost and Heather Hill.

Ramaswamy or one of the other candidates would have to receive two-thirds support from the Ohio Republican Party’s central committee, which has 66 members. The committee is expected to decide on an endorsement at its meeting on Friday.
The 2026 Republican gubernatorial primary in the Buckeye State is scheduled for May 5, 2026.
