Trump’s 100 days celebration relocates from Kennedy Center to Virginia

A celebration marking the 100th day of President Donald Trump’s return to the White House has now found a new venue following its initial cancellation at the Kennedy Center.

The 100th day of Trump’s second presidential term falls on Wednesday. The celebration, scheduled for Tuesday evening, had its reservation cancelled this week due to “contract violations,” prompting event host Alysia McMillan to search for a new venue. McMillan confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the event’s new location will now be held at Top of the Town in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.

McMillan stated that the new venue is “great,” but acknowledged that it provides an extra step for her in preparing for the party, as the Kennedy Center had “a whole production team” to help her with the preparation.

“This space is just that — it’s a very wide, open space, has a beautiful view of D.C., but it’s like, there’s nothing in it,” McMillan told the Washington Examiner. “So it’s like, OK, now I have to put all the stuff in it, I have to bring the decorations, I have to find this, and I have to find that. So it won’t be too hard, because what’s going to make the space great is all the people that are in it.”

McMillan stated that she was unsure what caused her reservation at the Kennedy Center to get canceled, citing how she signed an “events contract” with Megan Cikari, who was previously the Kennedy Center’s director of campus planning. However, Cikari was fired on April 18. McMillan said she did not personally speak with Cikari but that her reservation was canceled just a few days after Cikari’s firing, adding that the center alleged “contract violations” without providing specific proof.

The celebration will feature an elegant happy hour, which will be followed by a “high-energy” party, according to the event’s website. The event’s X account has also stated that it is working on a shuttle to transport people from the Kennedy Center to the Top of the Town venue.

“The entire goal of the event, since day one, has just been to celebrate President Trump, welcome him back to D.C., and to let his supporters know, especially in a place like D.C. that hasn’t always been friendly to Trump supporters or even President Trump himself, that he is here, and we want to, like, we have reason to celebrate! Why shouldn’t we?” McMillan stated.

Trump will be celebrating his 100th day in office at a rally in Michigan on Tuesday, marking his first time visiting the state since winning it in the Electoral College in 2024. Michigan was also the state he held his last 2024 rally on Election Day eve.

The Washington Examiner has contacted the Kennedy Center for comment.
