The Trump Organization’s official store is selling hats that say “Trump 2028,” fueling speculation that President Donald Trump could seek another term in the Oval Office.
Social media users noticed the new merchandise on the Trump Store, the retail website for the Trump Organization, on Thursday. The Trump War Room X account has since posted a photo of the president’s son, Eric Trump, sporting the new hat.
The same hat is not for sale on the Trump campaign’s website.
Rumblings of Trump possibly running for president in 2028 have been heard since he returned to the White House in January. The rumors have been pushed mainly by podcast host and Trump supporter Steve Bannon, who said he is working on “a couple of alternatives” for Trump to seek another term in office.
The Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, ratified in 1951, a few years after former President Franklin D. Roosevelt served four terms from 1932 to 1944, states that a U.S. president cannot be elected to more than two terms. Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith pointed to the amendment last month, saying Trump supporters are seeking to “circumvent” the Constitution.
Amid the debate over whether Trump should pursue another term, Vice President JD Vance has emerged as the popular pick to succeed him in the White House, with Tucker Carlson saying Vance would further Trump’s “legacy.” Earlier this year, Trump declined to endorse Vance, saying there are “a lot of very capable people,” while adding that Vance is “doing a fantastic job.”
THE DEMOCRATS IN PRIME POSITION TO BE FACE OF THE PARTY IN 2028
On the other side of the aisle, Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) is shaping up to be a possible Democratic presidential nominee in 2028. Moore recently received the praise of actor and director George Clooney, who called him a “proper leader.”
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Trump Organization for comment.
