Ted Cruz deems Supreme Court ‘the remedy’ to injunctions against Trump

.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued that the Supreme Court, along with the appellate process, is “the remedy” to judges ruling against the Trump administration, citing three recent rulings from the high court providing legal wins to the Trump White House.

Among the rulings that aid President Donald Trump‘s work include allowing the administration to resume deporting illegal immigrants through the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, and the Supreme Court granting an emergency stay that halted an order requiring the Education Department to reinstate over $65 million in teacher training grants. Cruz also took a victory lap on the Supreme Court’s 7-2 ruling halting an order mandating the administration to rehire thousands of “primarily probationary” federal employees.

The Texas senator was especially grateful for the decision allowing the administration to continue using the Alien Enemies Act, calling it “a big, big victory” against U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s “egregious” order on deportations. He noted how all three of the Supreme Court’s decisions were in response to federal district judges seeking to stop Trump’s vision for the nation.

“This is a very, very good development because it’s exactly what we talked about: the remedy for lawless decisions by district courts, the best remedy, is the appellate process, and the U.S. Supreme Court,” Cruz stated on his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett was one of four justices who sided with Boasberg and voted against the Trump administration. When asked why Barrett chose to side with Boasberg over the White House, Cruz stated he did not have “a good answer” on this matter, but did call Barrett’s vote “unfortunate.”

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) has also expressed frustration over Barrett’s vote, arguing that this is part of the reason the Supreme Court’s decision is not a complete victory for the Trump administration. He also noted how the high court ruled that there should be “a reasonable time” for suspected illegal immigrants to appeal their case, which would result in “a churn on these cases.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi stated on Tuesday that foreign terrorists need to start “self-deporting” following the Supreme Court’s decision, which she deemed a “landmark victory.”
