Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha said Friday that Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) doubling down on woke policy is another example of why Democrats are losing popularity with voters.
“If you’re a Republican or you’re MAGA, you should go out and put a Tim Walz for Democrat nominee sign on your front lawn like right now,” Concha told Fox News’s Fox & Friends First. “The goofy 80s sitcom dad is truly the gift that keeps on giving to his opponents.”
Concha’s comments came a day after Walz argued that Democrats should have amplified their rhetoric on woke policies during the 2024 campaign.
“We let [Republicans] define the issue on immigration. We let them define the issue on DEI, and we let them define what woke is,” Walz told a crowd in Texas on Thursday.
“We got ourselves in this mess because we weren’t bold enough to stand up and say, ‘You’re damn right we’re proud of these policies. We’re gonna put ’em in, and we’re gonna execute ’em,’” he said.
Walz’s comments represented a continuation down a path of failure for Democrats in swing states, according to Concha.
“If the governor actually did a remotely challenging interview these days, which he doesn’t, maybe he could answer why basically every major corporation is doing away with DEI and is running away from woke,” he said.

Walz lacks the skill necessary for such an interview, Concha said.
“He’d look like the same antelope in the headlights, the same way he did in that hot mess of a train wreck of a debate against JD Vance,” he said. “We can look forward to a Tim Walz-Jasmine Crockett ticket in 2028, where they’ll be the first ticket to somehow lose 50 states, including Minnesota.”
