White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that Democratic lawmakers appear to be “OK with violence” due to their silence regarding crimes against Tesla vehicles.
Protesters have vandalized Tesla vehicles and dealerships. In one case, a suspect set a Tesla service center in Las Vegas, Nevada, ablaze using Molotov cocktails, damaging five cars. Tesla CEO Elon Musk was the first to refer to the incidents as “terrorism” online.
“It is very clear that the Democrat Party no longer stands for anything. They only stand against Donald Trump, even if it means contradicting themselves. As I said, they were always the greatest cheerleaders for electric vehicles, and now I guess they are OK with violence being taken against the greatest electric vehicle company in our country,” Leavitt said on Fox News’s Faulkner Focus Thursday. “[Electric cars are] something their party used to support before they were completely captivated by the far, radical Left.”
Only two Democratic lawmakers have spoken out against the crimes against Tesla. They include Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), whose district has a Tesla manufacturing plant, and Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), who up until recently owned two Tesla vehicles but sold them over a spat with Musk.
“What’s extreme is the Democrat Party today, which is now applauding this political violence and domestic terrorism taking place across our country,” Leavitt said. “Again, I will reiterate President Trump is standing up for common sense and basic and fundamental American values.”
PAM BONDI DECLARES TARGETED TESLA ATTACKS ARE ‘NOTHING SHORT OF DOMESTIC TERRORISM’
Tesla is the only electric vehicle company that manufactures its cars in California. It employs over 20,000 in Fremont alone, which happens to be Khanna’s district.
Leavitt confirmed that President Donald Trump is committed to prosecuting the vandals. Attorney General Pam Bondi referred to the crimes as “domestic terrorism” and pledged to “impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate and fund these crimes.”
