Michael Whatley hopeful ‘commonsense agenda’ will win in midterm elections

.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley mocked the Democratic Party’s strategy, which has strayed from his own party’s “commonsense” policies.

The RNC is fresh off President Donald Trump‘s win, which included the popular vote for the first time since 2004. Republicans also won the majority in the Senate and House.

“As long as the Democrats are doing everything they can to oppose a commonsense agenda for America, we are going to see them in the 20s and 30s in terms of support,” Whatley said on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria on Thursday. “We are very excited about the map that we see in the Senate. We have great pick-up opportunities in places like Georgia and Michigan and New Hampshire. We obviously have some difficult holds around the country, and in the House, with this three-seat majority, we need to make sure that we’re going to expand it. As long as the Congress is going to do its job and making sure they are moving forward with the president’s popular agenda right now, we are in great shape.”

Whatley criticized Democratic lawmakers’ stances on deportation, secure borders, and transgender athletes in female sports.

House Republicans originally had a majority of 220 versus 215 Democratic lawmakers. Since then, Trump poached Elise Stefanik to be his U.N. ambassador and Mike Waltz to be his national security adviser, which slimmed the majority.

Vice President JD Vance was recently selected by the RNC to be its finance chairman. This marked the first time a sitting vice president was chosen to serve in the role. Many have interpreted his hiring as a preemptive presidential nomination for 2028.
