Faith leaders across the US gather in Oval Office to pray over Trump

The White House invited multiple faith leaders from across the nation to visit the Oval Office on Wednesday, where they were given the chance to pray for President Donald Trump and his leadership.

The Trump administration uploaded a photo on X of the leaders visiting the president, gathered around Trump as he sat at his desk. William Wolfe, the executive director of the Center for Baptist Leadership, was among the attendees who prayed for the president.

“It was a huge honor to represent @BaptistLeaders and meet @realDonaldTrump today along with other Christian leaders and pray for him in the Oval Office,” Wolfe wrote on X. “It’s been an incredible day—been keeping this under wraps until it happened, but can’t wait to share more!!”

WallBuilders founder David Barton, who was also with the faith leaders, wrote on X that it was “an honor” to pray for Trump at the White House. Barton’s company seeks to educate the nation on how the Bible played a pivotal role in the writings of the nation’s founding fathers.

It’s not the first time Trump has invited a multitude of faith leaders to visit the White House, as he did so during his first presidential term in 2017. Then-Vice President Mike Pence opened the evening dinner by thanking the attendees for their services in the faith, which was followed by Trump saying that the United States is “a proud nation of believers.”

Following the historic assassination attempt against Trump in July 2024, the then-presidential candidate credited God for saving his life and preventing “the unthinkable from happening.”
