Elon Musk ‘shocked’ by violence and threats against him and Tesla: ‘Mental illness’

Elon Musk expressed severe surprise by the attacks against Tesla and himself, chalking the assaults up to his executive department efforts working.

Musk has become a target of some on the Left due to his prominence in the Trump administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency. Recently, to show their opposition to him, vandals have begun targeting Tesla vehicles.

“It’s really come as quite a shock to me, that there’s this level of hatred and violence from the Left,” Musk said on Fox News’s Hannity on Tuesday night. “I always thought the Left, the Democrats, were supposed to be the party of empathy, the party of caring, yet they’re burning down cars, they’re firebombing dealerships, they’re firing bullets into dealerships.”

“Tesla is a peaceful company; we’ve never done anything harmful. I’ve never done anything harmful, I’ve only done productive things. So, I think we just have a deranged … there’s some kind of mental illness thing going on here because this doesn’t make any sense,” he told host Sean Hannity.

Musk speculated that the violence was an indication of his success as the head of DOGE.

“The reason we are seeing this extreme amount of hatred and violence is because we are actually succeeding in getting rid of corruption and waste. If we weren’t succeeding in getting rid of corruption and waste, they wouldn’t care,” he said.

One of the most significant attacks against Tesla occurred Tuesday morning when a suspect threw Molotov cocktails at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas and then fired bullets into different Tesla vehicles.
