Attorney General Pam Bondi warned that the Trump administration would continue its deportation of illegal immigrants, regardless of whether Democratic governors and lawmakers aid the administration in this endeavor.
President Donald Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 over the weekend to deport members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. On Sunday, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) said that she would not allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to “just take people off the streets,” prompting Bondi to state that the Trump administration will continue using “all of our agencies” to protect the United States.
“We are going to make America safe again, and we’re doing it by getting these criminals out of our country,” Bondi said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime, guest-hosted by Judge Jeanine Pirro. “If they’re not gonna help us, we’re going to do it on our own. And every time somebody tries to leak one of these investigations and protect these sanctuary cities, we will find out who you are, and you will be prosecuted because that jeopardizes the men and women of law enforcement, the great men and women around this country who are fighting every day to keep us safe.”
Bondi proceeded to slam the “out of touch with reality” governors prioritizing illegal immigrants over U.S. citizens, deeming it “ludicrous” and something the country will no longer tolerate.
The attorney general also addressed a federal judge’s attempt to “meddle” in Trump’s endeavor to deport illegal immigrants, arguing this specific judge “cannot” decide foreign policy for the country as a whole. She added the Trump administration will “absolutely” continue its deportation flights and follow the Alien Enemies Act.

Border czar Tom Homan has also denounced the judge’s decision, claiming it “defies logic.”
Trump has expressed thanks to El Salvador and its president, Nayib Bukele, for accepting members of the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gangs, as well as Bukele’s understanding of the U.S.’s “horrible situation.” He also blamed former President Joe Biden and “the Radical Left Democrats” for the gangs being in the country to begin with.
