President Donald Trump thanked the country of El Salvador and its president, Nayib Bukele, for accepting members of the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gangs, calling them “monsters” who were only in the country because of “Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats.”
In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump applauded Bukele for his “understanding of this horrible situation” as roughly 250 Tren de Aragua members and 23 MS-13 members wanted for alleged crimes in El Salvador were deported to the Central American country.
“These are the monsters sent into our Country by Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats. How dare they! Thank you to El Salvador and, in particular, President Bukele, for your understanding of this horrible situation, which was allowed to happen to the United States because of incompetent Democrat leadership. We will not forget!” Trump said.
The statement from the U.S. president included footage posted by Bukele earlier to his X account showing the migrants deboarding the plane after landing in El Salvador, before being hauled into buses and taken to the country’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center, known for its grisly conditions.

The deportation flights came after Trump issued a proclamation ordering the immediate deportation of all Venezuelan illegal immigrants with ties to the Tren de Aragua gang. That proclamation also declared an invasion in the United States by the gang, which Trump said has close ties with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his regime.
A federal judge later blocked the deportation effort for 14 days to weigh the legality of Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act, but two flights that were already en route to Central America were not turned back around by the Trump administration, teeing up a potential legal battle.
