Grammy Award-nominated rapper Lil Yachty is going viral after slamming Black Lives Matter as a “scam.”
The artist, born Miles McCollum, criticized the organization behind the movement on Quenlin Blackwell’s “FEEDING STARVING CELEBRITIES” YouTube series after he was asked, while making pancakes, how much he has donated to charitable causes, including Black Lives Matter.
“BLM is scam,” Lil Yachty, 27, said.
“Clip that!” Blackwell responded. “Send it the f****** news!”
The rapper continued, pointing to the financial track record of the organization.
“It was literally a scam,” he said. “They had bought mansions, and you probably wouldn’t know anything about it [because] you don’t care about black people, and you don’t follow black news.”
Blackwell said she did care about black people and asked Lil Yachty to look at “my chocolate” while rubbing her skin, and the conversation switched to a laugh-filled debate over who was more diverse.
DC locals share emotions as Black Lives Matter Plaza is dismantled. In its place will be a mural honoring the nation’s 250th birthday next year.

However, the facts appear to support the rapper’s allegation that BLM is indeed a “scam.”
In 2020, the Black Lives Matter foundation took in over $90 million in donations following the death of George Floyd, and millions were steered toward friends and family of co-founder Patrisse Cullors, a self-identified Marxist.
“Among those purchases was a swanky $6 million Los Angeles mansion where Cullors threw parties,” the Washington Examiner reported. “The National Legal and Policy Center, a conservative watchdog, later alleged in an April 2022 IRS complaint that the BLM charity could face criminal or civil penalties for illegally using the mansion for the benefit of Cullors.”

Cullors resigned in May 2021 following legal scrutiny relating to her real estate purchases.
Earlier this week, demolition of the Black Lives Matter Plaza began in Washington, D.C. The area near the White House will soon feature a mural in honor of the nation’s 250th birthday next year.
