Rosie O’Donnell living in Ireland after Trump win and won’t return until it’s ‘safe’

Comedian and television producer Rosie O’Donnell said on Tuesday she fled to Ireland just before President Donald Trump’s inauguration and will not return to the United States until it’s “safe.”

“I’m here in Ireland, and it’s beautiful and warm, not physically, it’s quite cold,” O’Donnell announced on TikTok. “The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming, and I’m very grateful.”

The Trump critic moved to Ireland on Jan. 15 and said she is in the process of getting Irish citizenship as she has Irish grandparents.

“Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child, and here we are,” O’Donnell said.

While she misses her other children and friends, O’Donnell won’t return to the United States until she feels it is “safe,” she said.

“When, you know, it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back,” she said. “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally. … The personal is political.”

The Trump-O’Donnell feud dates back to 2006 when O’Donnell attacked Trump on The View after he said he would let the Miss USA winner keep her crown if she entered rehab.

O’Donnell has constantly attacked Trump since he entered the political arena, and her move to Ireland signals Trump’s victory in the pair’s feud, according to conservatives on social media.

“Trump broke Rosie,” one independent journalist posted to X.

“President Trump got Rosie O’Donnell to self deport,” another user posted. “Promises made, Promises kept!”

O’Donnell leaving is just another win, according to White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller.

“President Trump has gotten Rosie O’Donnell to self-deport from the United States of America,” Miller told Sean Hannity of Fox News. “It wasn’t explicitly one of our campaign promises, but it is a major first 100-day achievement.”
