Mark Carney won Canada’s Liberal Party leadership election on Sunday, making him Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s successor after he announced he was stepping down in January.

Carney, a former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, won in convincing fashion, securing 85.9% of the vote, according to CBC. He faced off against Chrystia Freeland, whose own resignation from Trudeau’s Cabinet prompted the prime minister’s decision to step down.
