Mike Turner vows Trump administration will find terrorists with ISIS ties in US

.

Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) said the incoming Trump administration will find and locate terrorists associated with ISIS within the United States, which he warned is a present threat to the country.

Turner’s comment comes after he warned in June 2024 that terrorists are “actively working” within the U.S., with the lawmaker stating on Sunday that FBI Director Christopher Wray has testified there are terror cells across the nation. Turner added that the terrorists within the country are working “in conjunction with ISIS” with the intention of harming the country’s residents.

“And we are working diligently to try to take them down, to prevent them from doing so, and that’s why the director is publicly saying such,” Turner said. “And that’s what the administration is going to be handed. The fact that these individuals are here, that we need to locate them, and we need to remove them, and we need to bring them to justice and prevent them from doing harm to Americans.”

Turner also said that the current location of these terrorists affiliated with ISIS, which Wray has indicated had come across the border, is unknown.

President-elect Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have both blamed the Biden administration’s inaction in securing the southern border for the recent terrorist attack that occurred in New Orleans which killed over a dozen people and injured another 35. The incoming president made securing the southern border a major focus of his campaign, with incoming border czar Tom Homan warning illegal immigrants they will be “going home” soon.

Following the terrorist attack in New Orleans, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will visit the city on Monday. Biden stated in an address delivered on New Year’s Day that the U.S. would “relentlessly pursue ISIS and other terrorist organizations where they are, and they’ll find no safe harbor here.”
