Podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan joked that the Democratic Party is attempting to replicate the success of his show following the 2024 election, stating he was previously “on their side.”
Rogan reflected on the results of the 2024 election during Tuesday’s episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. The episode featured businessman and former software engineer Marc Andreessen as his guest. During their discussion, Rogan lamented how “corporate media” has eroded its credibility, contending this continuous decline is driving more and more people to independent media sources.
Andreessen raised the possibility that the 2024 election was “the first internet election” the country had ever held, suggesting an argument could be made that it was, while Rogan stated, “I think this is it.” Andreessen also added that Rogan’s podcast “played a big role” in the election, referring to how President-elect Donald Trump appeared on his show right before the election.
“I think these Call Her Daddy shows and all these different shows that she went on, I mean, I’m sure they had an impact, but I think that in the future … I’m sure they’re scrambling to try to create their own version of this show,” Rogan said. “This is one thing that keeps coming up like, ‘We need our own Joe Rogan.’ But they had me. I was on their side! I was on their side!”
Andreessen pointed out that while the Democratic Party “drove” Rogan away, it is still aligned with major cable television outlets such as CNN, ABC, and CBS. Rogan then pointed out how communicating through cable television “doesn’t work anymore,” as trying to do so was the equivalent of “using smoke signals” whereas everyone else is using cellphones.
Rogan endorsed Trump about a day before the 2024 election, which he gave after the former president was a guest on his podcast. Trump appeared on far more podcasts this election cycle than he had in 2016 and 2020, with his appearance on Rogan’s show getting over 51 million views on YouTube.
Following the election, Rogan discussed with Andreessen how the election results were “one of the first times ever” in which he “felt hopeful” after an election. Andreessen agreed, describing the election results as “morning in America.”

Andreessen also jokingly compared the 2024 election cycle to a science-fiction film, in which “the timeline has split twice,” the first being the July 13 assassination attempt against Trump and the second being Trump’s victory against Vice President Kamala Harris. Rogan contemplated the “crazy world” that the United States would be if the assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, succeeded in his assassination attempt, suggesting it would have resulted in “January 6 on steroids everywhere.”
Prior to the 2024 election, Rogan tried to organize a one-on-one interview with Harris. However, the interview ended up not happening due to Rogan being unable to agree to the prerequisites Harris’s team had for the interview. Among these prerequisites was only allowing the interview to be one hour long, a far cry from Rogan’s other interviews, which go on for multiple hours.
