Musk and Ramaswamy create Department of Government Efficiency X account

.

After President-elect Donald Trump tapped billionaire Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to head what he’s calling the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, the pair launched the social media account “@DOGE” on the X platform Tuesday night.

The first post on the social media account is a re-posting of Musk’s message on X announcing the creation of DOGE.

“Working overtime to ensure your tax dollars will be spent wisely!” the @DOGE X account wrote on Wednesday afternoon.

“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement,” Trump wrote in his announcement. “I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”

The acronym “DOGE” is a nod to a dog-themed cryptocurrency that went viral after Musk hyped it for years on social media.

Trump plans for the advisory board to “dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies.”

The president-elect said the commission will wrap by July 4, 2026, but Musk posted Wednesday that he hopes the effort to be “done much faster.”

“Over the last 2 years, the Supreme Court has ruled that the administrative state is behaving in wildly unlawful ways. But slapping the bureaucracy on the wrist won’t solve the problem, the only right answer is a massive downsizing,” Ramaswamy wrote on X Wednesday.
