Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) predicted members of the media will utilize photos of children being separated from their families in an attempt to deter President-elect Donald Trump‘s plans to deport illegal immigrants.
Trump has pushed for mass deportations of illegal immigrants as part of his presidential priorities, saying it will be one of the actions he seeks to carry out on his first day in office. Luna noted how she and her fellow Republican lawmakers have sought to secure the border over the last two years, but such efforts have been hindered by “the Washington bureaucrats” who have blocked these moves.
WHAT TRUMP HAS PROMISED TO DO ON DAY 1 IN THE OVAL OFFICE
“In fact, I’m waiting for the media to start putting up pictures of women and children being separated because that’s what they’re doing,” Luna said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime. “They’re not telling the American people that a majority of the illegals here are actually military-age males from China, the Middle East, and parts of South America, where they’ve been affiliated with cartels and terrorist organizations.”
Luna contended that Trump and the Republican Party saw “a massive shift” in support among Hispanic voters due to illegal immigration impacting this voting bloc’s communities, adding that voters do not want people who will not be “contributing members of society.” Ahead of the election, Luna predicted that Trump’s “surging” among Hispanic voters would drive success for Republican candidates down the ballot.
The Florida congresswoman also addressed Trump tapping billionaires Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to head the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, which will work with the White House and Office of Management and Budget but operate outside of the federal government to create a more efficient bureaucracy. Luna said the forming Trump administration is “in good shape” with the addition of DOGE, and the “backup” for House Republicans is welcomed.

Beyond Musk and Ramaswamy, Trump has also selected Tom Homan, the former head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as his new border czar. Homan deemed immigrants “God-fearing family people” while vowing to protect them from criminals and the Salvadorian gang MS-13. As a czar, Homan will advise the president on border concerns and be the point person on related matters.
Following his selection as border czar, Homan informed sanctuary cities that will not assist the Trump administration’s deportations to “get the hell out of the way ’cause we’re gonna do it.”
