Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President-elect Donald Trump, posted on his Instagram a tongue-in-cheek resignation letter from his father to the McDonald’s Corporation’s HR Department on Wednesday.
“Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from my position at McDonald’s, effective Monday, January 20, 2025,” the fake satirical letter signed by his father said on McDonald’s letterhead.
The letter gives the resignation date, which is the same date as his inauguration date.
The letter went on to state that Trump has “enjoyed the opportunity to serve” customers, flipping burgers, making fries and managing the drive-thru.
“I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition during my remaining time here. Please let me know how I can assist in finding and training my replacement,” Trump said in the letter.
The letter closed with saying that Trump looked forward to his “next adventure, but leaves with fond memories” of his time at McDonald’s.
Instagram users reacted to the humorous letter.
“Fix that damn ice cream machine before ya head out,” one social media user quipped.
“Maybe Kamala will apply,” another person joked.
“Sad but he’s found a better position,” an X user said.
The fast food chain restaurant McDonald’s was thrust into the media spotlight for the 2024 election when Trump briefly worked at the restaurant in October in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania.

His visit was the campaign’s effort to mock his Democratic rival Vice President Kamala Harris’s numerous claims that she had worked the fry station at a McDonald’s when she was younger. Several journalists dug into her narrative and struggled to get any confirmation from the corporation about her alleged employment.
The restaurant visit showed the businessman’s engaging personality while working with ordinary restaurant workers and customers at the business.
