Trump slams ‘media hoax’ over Liz Cheney ‘war hawk’ comment

.

Former President Donald Trump took aim on Saturday at the “media hoax” over comments of his calling former congresswoman Liz Cheney a “war hawk” at an event with conservative personality Tucker Carlson.

Vice President Kamala Harris and left-leaning media outlets seized on Trump’s comments on Thursday, accusing Trump of calling for violence against Cheney. Trump had called her “a radical war hawk,” adding, “Let’s put her with a rifle, standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK? Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained in her face. You know, they’re all war hawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying, ‘Oh, gee … let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy.’”

Speaking to Fox & Friends Weekend on Saturday morning, Trump lambasted “the fake news” media for trying to make it seem as if Trump was urging violence rather than criticizing Cheney for being a “war hawk.”

“Well, it’s the fake news, and they’re trying to make something out of it, and it’s so biased to start off with,” Trump said. “All I’m saying is she’s a nutty war hawk.”

Trump also blasted Cheney’s father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, as a “nut job.”

Both Cheneys support Harris in the 2024 presidential election next week. Trump holds a 0.3% lead in the RealClearPolitics polling average.

“She was a nut job, just like her father,” Trump said. “Her father got us into the Middle East, and we spent $9 trillion dollars; we ended up killing lots of people, including, we lost a lot of people ourselves. You add up both sides, we killed millions of people, we spent $9 trillion; you know what we got? Nothing. We didn’t keep the oil. We didn’t do anything. Her father got rich doing that.”

“She’s probably worse than her father because she’s not as smart,” Trump added.
