Actor Zachary Levi made a call for conservatives in Hollywood to not be afraid of sharing their beliefs ahead of the 2024 election, citing the current state of Hollywood for why “it’s now or never.”
Levi’s call was prefaced with a rebuttal against a statement The View’s Whoopi Goldberg made, claiming that Hollywood has “always been a very right-leaning town” when she rebuked him for being concerned his support for former President Donald Trump could hurt his acting career. The actor contended that actors with conservative beliefs need to be “at a certain level of your career” to state their beliefs confidently, noting that Goldberg was only able to list Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples.
“And what that means is there’s plenty — and by the way, they have sent me lots of messages — plenty of people in my industry in Hollywood that are terrified to publicly say that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi said in an Instagram video. “That’s why you don’t see them. That’s why they’re not very prevalent or prominent because they know that there’s ramifications for this kind of s***.”

Levi then pointed to how Hollywood is in a very bad state at the moment as it is getting “eroded” by recent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the actors’ and writers’ strikes. Both the pandemic and the strikes seriously halted film production for major Hollywood productions.
“So anyway, my cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives, closeted Trump voters, y’all, it’s now or never, you know what I mean?” Levi said. “Do whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you feel like you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do that, but know that if what you’re afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that’s not going to exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back.”
Levi’s decision to support Trump was publicized last month during a campaign event the actor was hosting for former independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. The actor originally supported Kennedy’s presidential bid before he suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump, and he stated in his new video that he trusts Kennedy and Gabbard’s decision to support him.
The actor noted that while Vice President Kamala Harris seems “a lot nicer” than Trump, he failed to see how her leadership as president would be any different than President Joe Biden. He pointed to how the issues affecting the nation, including the lack of border security and the economy, were better handled by Trump, with the 2024 election being his first time voting for the former president.

Levi is perhaps best known for starring in the espionage-comedy series Chuck, which aired for five seasons from 2007 to 2012. He also starred in the film Shazam! and voiced Flynn Rider in Disney’s Tangled.
Levi voiced his support for Trump several months after Quaid revealed in an interview that he would vote for the former president, citing the “weaponization of our justice system” utilized against Trump. Quaid added that supporting Trump “just makes sense.”
