Karoline Leavitt, former President Donald Trump‘s campaign press secretary, suggested her team could soon be involved in providing transportation support to voters affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Both storms have left over 220 people dead and hundreds more missing across states experiencing power outages and flooding. Many residents have evacuated their home counties entirely with only three weeks left until the election.
“As President Trump said when we were on the ground in Georgia surveying the damage — may I add he went there before Kamala Harris or Joe Biden did — he said we care most about lives,” Leavitt said Monday on Fox News’s Fox and Friends First. “Our campaign is reviewing how we can possibly provide transportation for voters who need to get to the polls and ensuring they have access to the ballot box.”
The Republican National Committee sent a memo to Gov. Roy Cooper (D-NC) and the North Carolina General Assembly with 10 suggestions to help ensure people still vote. Among them included the option to vote in a neighboring county both in person and with absentee ballots.

“They have faced this destruction for no fault of their own,” Leavitt said. “This is Trump country, this is western North Carolina, these are our people. We are focused on taking care of them and making sure that their right to vote remains in the wake of this disaster.”
RNC co-chairwoman Lara Trump suggested she may pursue legal action “as needed” should further natural disasters keep voters from the polls.
