DNC targets MLB playoff game with banner calling Trump an ‘anti-union scab’

Fans at Wednesday’s American League playoff game in Detroit will be buzzed by a Democratic National Committee banner declaring former President Donald Trump a labor “scab.”

In the hours leading up to the 3:08 p.m. game between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians at Comerica Park, the DNC said it would fly a banner that reads, “Trump is an anti-union scab. Vote Kamala!”

Motor city unions, including the United Auto Workers, have largely endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Still, she has had trouble winning over all union leaders, including the Teamsters and International Association of Fire Fighters.

Trump, meanwhile, has touted surveys showing he is winning over union workers even among labor organizations whose leaders have backed Democrats.

The banner will be seen until the start of the game. The Tigers and Guardians have each won one game.

In a statement, regional DNC spokeswoman Stephanie Justice said, “The miracle of the Detroit Tigers’ season embodies the city’s spirit: From being counted out, to being on the verge of heading to the ALCS and potentially the World Series. Detroit workers lived through the consequences of Trump’s catastrophic policies and have made a comeback under the Biden-Harris administration. Meanwhile, Trump remains an anti-union scab who weakened the rights of workers, and he’ll push them to the bottom of his priority list once again to give handouts to his billionaire friends.”
