Thousands of flights canceled ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival

.

More than 2,400 flights into and out of the United States were canceled in anticipation of Hurricane Milton on Wednesday.

These cancellations began Tuesday as Milton fluctuates between being a Category 4 and Category 5 storm. Flight delays also increased, with nearly 3,000 reported by flight tracking data site FlightAware.

Much of the Southeast is recovering from Hurricane Helene, which first touched ground in Florida, as Milton will. As a result, 88% to 98% of all flights coming into and out of Florida’s Orlando, Tampa, and Southwest Florida airports were canceled, FlightAware reported.

Theme parks across Florida, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando, announced closures on Wednesday to avoid the storm. Universal and SeaWorld will remain closed through Thursday as well.
