Shots were fired at a Democratic Party office in Tempe, Arizona, on Monday night.
The Tempe Police Department said what appeared to be gunfire damage was discovered at the party office. It’s not clear exactly when the damages occurred, with the police department just noting they occurred “overnight.”
“Overnight, several shots were fired into our Tempe Democratic Party coordinated campaign office,” said Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Democratic Party coordinated campaign manager.
“We are grateful to Tempe police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured,” McEnerney continued.
Camera footage aired by local news outlets in Phoenix showed two bullet holes in a door and two more in the windows of the office.
The incident is being investigated as a property crime because no one was in the office at the time of the gunshots. The Tempe Police Department is asking anyone with information or video of the incident to contact it.

Arizona is one of several swing states both Harris and Trump are vying to win in November. In 2020, President Joe Biden flipped the state blue for the first time since 1996 by a little over 10,000 votes.
Students at Arizona State University, located in Tempe, are a large voting bloc in Maricopa County, which typically votes slightly more blue than the rest of the county. Young voters in Arizona, or those ages 18 to 29, may be the state’s most engaged youth electorate group in its history following data after the 2022 midterm elections, according to the McCain Institute.
