The View co-hosts tore into Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) on Wednesday for questioning whether Vice President Kamala Harris has “anything keeping her humble.”
During a town hall event for former President Donald Trump in Flint, Michigan, on Tuesday, Sanders remarked that her children keep her humble.
“Not only do my kids serve as a permanent reminder of what’s important, they also keep me humble,” she said to the crowd. “You can walk into a room like this where people cheer when you step onto the stage. And you might think for a second that you’re kind of special. Then you go home, and your kids remind you very quickly that you’re actually not that big of a deal.”
The audience laughed at her remark.
“My kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble,” Sanders continued.
The ladies of The View were outraged by the Arkansas governor’s remarks about Harris.
“I was humble and grounded well before I started pushing babies out. That is not what made me that way,” co-host Sara Haines reacted.
Co-host Sunny Hostin shared her analysis by beginning with a critique of Sanders “intentionally” mispronouncing the vice president’s name.
“I think there are a lot of ways of mothering. I’ve been mothered by my grandmother. I’ve mothered other people’s children. The vice president is a stepmother, and her stepchildren call her ‘Mamala,’” Hostin said, noting that the vice president has two grown stepchildren with her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
“So she is a mother. She is a mother figure, but let’s call this another thing, which is what I saw. This lack of humility trope. Kamala is a self-made person,” Hostin shot back at Sanders.
“She is a child of immigrants. Coming to a new country or even born here with immigrant parents who maybe have accents and don’t speak the language and your family gets treated differently is a pretty humbling experience,” Hostin continued. “I think when you’re not born on third base into a political family is a pretty humbling experience, and the trope that a black woman lacks humility because she is well educated and accomplished and confident and competent is a tired trope, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, that says a lot more about you.”
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who formerly worked in Trump’s White House communications office, shared her surprise about the comments from Trump’s former press secretary.
“I want to speak to Sara specifically. I watched this clip, and my jaw dropped. I worked with Sarah,” Griffin said.
“She was privately one of the kindest, sweetest people … but it speaks to the toxic environment of Trump. To fit in, you have to say wild things, knock people down, and be a bully,” Griffin added.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg said Republicans are the ones who don’t care about children.

“If y’all really cared about children, where are the tax credits? Where is the paid family leave? Where is the free child care?” she said.
“Where are you coming from now? Who are you, Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Who are you?” Goldberg asked as the segment ended.
