Trump will hold rally in Butler to honor those killed and injured during assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump announced he will hold a second rally at the site of his assassination attempt to honor victims caught in the gunfire nearly two weeks ago.

“I WILL BE GOING BACK TO BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA, FOR A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL RALLY,” Trump said on Friday in a post to Truth Social.

The former president said the rally is to honor “THE SOUL OF OUR BELOVED FIREFIGHTING HERO, COREY, AND THOSE BRAVE PATRIOTS INJURED TWO WEEKS AGO.”

“WHAT A DAY IT WILL BE — FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!” Trump said. “STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS.”

As an assassin took shots at Trump during a rally on July 13, Corey Comperatore died protecting his family from the gunfire. Two other men were shot during the attack at the Butler County rally. Although those two victims suffered critical injuries, they are in the process of recovering.

Trump’s announcement comes after he honored Comperatore at the Republican National Convention last week.

“He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets,” Trump said as he kissed the former fire chief’s helmet, which was displayed on the stage. “He went right over the top of them and was hit. What a fine man he was.”
