Trump slams FBI Director Wray for suggesting he may have been hit by shrapnel

Former President Donald Trump slammed the FBI director’s testimony that he may have been struck by shrapnel instead of a bullet in the July 13 assassination attempt on his life.

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘uneventful’ — Wrong!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Thursday.

“No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard,” the former president continued. “There was no glass, there was no shrapnel. The hospital called it a ‘bullet wound to the ear,’ and that is what it was. No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!”

Wray testified about the attempted assassination before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

During his testimony, he expressed uncertainty about whether Trump had been hit by a bullet when a shooter opened fire at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.

“With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear,” Wray said at the hearing.

His statement sparked a backlash from some Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

“We’ve all seen the video, we’ve seen the analysis, we’ve heard it from multiple sources in different angles that a bullet went through his ear. I’m not sure it matters that much,” Johnson said.

The FBI is reportedly looking at bullet fragments from the site of the rally to determine whether the former president was struck by a bullet or shrapnel.

The shooting killed one attendee at the rally and injured two others.
