Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is calling for “men to be strong again.”

In his new book, Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs, Hawley slams the Left’s indoctrination through media and education that “manhood is inherently dangerous” and instead suggests America can be changed for the better by getting men to “take on responsibilities and be leaders.”

LIBERAL POLICIES ARE MAKING THE AMERICAN DREAM UNAFFORDABLE

“We need men to be strong. We need them to step up. We need them to take responsibility,” Hawley told Life, Liberty & Levin. “The lies the Left is telling by saying that manhood is inherently toxic and that to be a man is to, in and of itself, make the world worse, that’s just not true. We need to be sending the opposite message.”

Hawley said he sees the Left’s attacks on masculinity as an attack on religion.

“There is a religious aspect to this. The neo-Marxists hate the legacy of faith in this country. They particularly do not like the Bible. They don’t like its influence on our culture,” Hawley said.

“That’s why, in the book, I say, ‘Listen, if you want to talk about what it looks like to be a good man, there’s no better place to turn to than the tradition of the Bible, which is one so many Americans share and that has been such a powerful influence for good in our culture. Look at what it means to be a good man who provides, who protects, who builds things, who contributes.’ That’s really what the book is about,” Hawley noted.

Hawley added that today’s cultural message regarding how there’s something “inherently wrong with masculinity” needs to stop.

“Look at what our kids are taught in schools,” Hawley said. “By the time they go to preschool, they are taught if they are a boy, if they want to be aggressive, if they want to talk about guns: ‘No, that’s bad. They need to be medicated. They need to be quieted down.’ When they get a little older, they are taught manhood is inherently dangerous, that it contributes to climate change, that they need to renounce their masculinity.”

“You see this ideology that permeates our media, our culture — all driven by the Left. And then we wonder why more and more men are not pursuing education, more and more men are not pursuing work,” the senator continued. “We’ve got to tell the truth, which is that we need strong men in this country. We need them to go out there and work. We need them to start a family. We need them to provide. If you want to change America for the better, get men to be strong again, to take on the responsibilities, and be leaders.”

Hawley’s book will be released on Tuesday, May 16.
