Musk did not share details about whom the new hire could be.

Twitter has been changing and updating under his ownership. Musk launched encrypted private messages on Thursday but limited the feature only to those who pay for the premium service Twitter Blue. The app will also allow users to call others.

The company is also attempting to clean up its accounts by deleting dormant accounts and archiving inactive accounts.

Musk said he hopes to turn Twitter into X, his vision of an “everything app” similar to China’s WeChat. Musk had praised the Chinese social app before and expressed an interest in making his own such app in the United States.

The company filed paperwork in November 2022 with the Treasury Department that would allow Twitter to incorporate the financial technology required to process online transactions. Musk has also voiced an interest in creating a dating app on Twitter.
