The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee shared her takeaways from former President Donald Trump‘s town hall on CNN Wednesday.

McGhee appeared as one of the co-hosts on Fox News’ Outnumbered Thursday to break down the former president’s television appearance. Throughout the town hall, McGhee could see that “the real threat” was that members of the audience still applauded Trump and liked what he had to say.

“Because the entire point of censorship, the motivation behind it is the idea that people are too stupid to think for themselves, to make their own conclusions about what Trump has to say,” McGhee said.

“I’m from Michigan. I’m from the Midwest and you’re right, it is a very elitist attitude to talk down to Midwestern voters who voted for Trump in 2016, who voted for him again in 2020, who might vote again for him in 2024 and tell them, ‘No, actually, you don’t get to hear the former president. You don’t get to decide for yourself what you think about him,'” McGhee said. “That’s the Democrats’ attitude.”

The former president and current GOP front-runner for the 2024 election spoke with moderator Kaitlan Collins at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire. Former Govs. Nikki Haley (R-SC) and Asa Hutchinson (R-AR), along with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, are the other prominent Republican candidates who have announced their campaigns so far.
