Police kill gunman after mass shooting at Texas mall complex leaves ‘multiple’ dead

Police are responding to reports of an active shooting at a mall in Allen, Texas.

Authorities with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon that at least one gunman is believed to have opened fire at Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. local time. The city of Allen, located about 25 miles north of Dallas, Texas, tweeted that residents should avoid the area as authorities handle the situation.

That gunman was killed by responding officers on the scene, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office said late Saturday afternoon. The office also said children were among the “multiple” victims that were killed in the massacre.

Helicopter footage taken by local station Fox 4 showed at least four bodies being covered by white sheets of some sort outside of the H&M in the mall complex.

The Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Dallas bureau called the situation an “active shooter incident” in a tweet at 4:30 p.m. local time. Authorities confirmed the gunman had been killed shortly after 6 p.m. local time.
