The hearing comes as Republicans continue to blast Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, for his role in the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. On Tuesday, the Food and Drug Administration approved the first-ever vaccine against respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, for adults 60 years of age and older. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet in June to decide whether to give a recommendation. If the recommendation is given, the vaccine will be available for seniors as early as October.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
