The View hosts react to CNN hosting ‘racist,’ ‘sexist,’ ‘bigot’ Trump for town hall

The View hosts reacted on Wednesday to CNN‘s decision to host a town hall with Republican presidential primary front runner former President Donald Trump.
Sunny Hostin told her cohosts that she is “so disgusted” by CNN’s decision. “When someone shows you who they are, you believe them,” she added.

“When you show that you are an insurrectionist, that you’re a liar, that you’re a bigot, that you’re a racist, that you’re sexist, that you’re twice impeached, that you’re currently a criminal defendant — and likely to be a criminal defendant in two other jurisdictions — and you grab women by their genitals,” she began. “I know everything I need to know about you.”
CNN announced on Monday a live town hall event with Trump in New Hampshire on May 10 at 8 p.m.

According to spokesperson for the network, “This Town Hall is part of a long-standing CNN tradition of hosting leading presidential candidates for Town Halls and political events as part of the network’s robust campaign coverage. CNN is no stranger to these types of events, and this Town Hall will be the first of many in the 2024 election cycle. No subject is off limits.”
“I always thought town halls were meant for us to get to know a candidate — what they stand for,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “So what is the point of this new town hall that he’s doing?”
“And did we learn nothing from [Leslie] Moonves, bad for the country but great for the network?” she added.
The host was referring to the former chairman and CEO of CBS Corporation, who claimed that the 2016 Trump campaign “may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS.”
Hostin further voiced her disbelief “that they’re giving him this platform.”
However, Joy Behar doesn’t necessarily feel the same way. “I can’t stand him, as you know, but he’s the front-runner for the Republican Party,” she explained.
“Let them do it. It is a free country. This is America. Let him go out there and let him show again to the American people that he’s a sociopath,” she said.
According to Behar, “a sociopath is incapable of empathy. That will come through.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin disagreed with Hostin, noting that what the 2024 candidate has to say is a “vital public interest.”
“I find it extraordinary that a guy who had such vitriolic response to that network, and networks that were not kissing his behind, that he’s now going on these networks, and saying, ‘hey, here’s who I am.’ I find it interesting, man,” Goldberg said of the unexpected working relationship between Trump and CNN.
Goldberg added, “The other sad thing to me is once you put this guy up, and you kind of say, ‘this is the front-runner,’ it seems like you’re saying, ‘and nobody else is going to be there.'”
“You’re normalizing him, and you’re legitimatizing him,” Hostin claimed.
The Washington Examiner can confirm that this offer from CNN is made to significant candidates, including Trump, during every presidential election cycle.
The Trump campaign did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for confirmation.
An industry insider suggested to the Washington Examiner that despite The View’s criticism, ABC News would host an event with Trump if he were to accept.

The industry source further suggested the same for other news organizations such as CBS, and NBC, MSNBC.
The town hall event will be hosted by CNN’s Kaitlan Collins and will take place at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire.
