Former White House chief of staff Ron Klain said that the Democrats’ strategy will remain the same in 2024 no matter who wins the nomination.

In a wide-ranging interview Sunday, Klain addressed the possibility of former President Donald Trump not being the 2024 Republican nominee, saying that he thinks Democrats’ 2024 plan will remain the same as President Joe Biden will be “running on his record.”

RON DESANTIS’S POSSIBLE 2024 BID SHAPES UP AS POLITICAL HEADACHES MOUNT

“Obviously, he was different, Donald Trump is unique in many ways, but I think you’re seeing in Gov. DeSantis someone who shares a lot of Trump’s views on key things like reproductive freedom, voting rights, other issues like that,” said Klain on MSNBC’s Inside with Jen Psaki.

Klain pointed to Biden’s reelection announcement video, released last week, as an example, saying it framed his bid as “more freedoms and less freedoms as a choice against any Trump-like Republican nominees in 2024.”

“And I think also the President will be running on his record, and that doesn’t change with regard to who his opponent is,” said Klain. “So I think, like, the race is going to be the race. I think it’s gonna look kind of the same no matter who the Republicans nominate, say, nominate someone from the MAGA wing of their party, [which] seems almost certain.”
