Just one day after launching, President Joe Biden‘s 2024 reelection effort is debuting a new ad campaign in a number of key battleground states.
The campaign itself, a seven-figure buy that NBC reports will run in 15 television markets across Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, will feature two ads, with the first, a 90-second spot titled “Raise The Flag,” launching Wednesday.

The six battlegrounds were critical to Biden’s 2020 general election victory over former President Donald Trump and have been identified to the Washington Examiner by senior Democratic Party officials as a core focus of the 2024 map.
“As the sun rises, we raise the flag, a symbol of all that we hold most dear as Americans, courage, opportunity, democracy, freedom. They’re the values and beliefs that built this country and still beat in our hearts. But they’re under attack by an extreme movement that seeks to overturn elections, ban books and eliminate a woman’s right to choose,” the narrator says in the ad, which features footage of Biden in the Oval Office and on the campaign trail spliced with patriotic B-roll.
“Joe Biden has made defending our basic freedoms the cause of his presidency: the freedom for women to make their own healthcare decisions, the freedom for our children to be safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote and have your vote counted, for seniors to live with dignity, and to give every American the freedom that comes with a fair shot at building a good life in small towns and big cities,” it continues. “We raise our heads, our eyes, our hearts for America, for the idea of this great country. Joe Biden is running for reelection to make certain that the sun will not set on his flag. The promise of American democracy will not break.”
The ad then shifts to Biden saying, “Democracy must not be a partisan issue. It’s an American issue. As your president, I will defend our democracy with every fiber of my being, and I’m asking every American to join me,” before the narrator concludes, “For freedom, for democracy, for America: Joe Biden.”

Though previewed for months, the president announced his reelection campaign on Tuesday morning. Biden, who has frequently called himself the “most pro-labor president” in U.S. history, later delivered a speech to trade groups in Washington, D.C., and made his case to voters.
“I’ve never been more optimistic about America’s future,” he said. “We’re on the cusp of major change. We’re creating jobs again. People can afford decent healthcare. Towns that have been forgotten and left behind for dead are coming alive again because of you all and what we’re doing. Now we’ve just got to keep it going and finish the job.”
