Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) political team cut a video roasting President Joe Biden over his 2024 campaign pitch to “finish the job.”
“70% of Americans agree — our country is going in the wrong direction. We don’t want Biden to finish the job,” the DeSantis War Room tweeted with the video.

This is a reference to a recent NBC poll that found nearly 70% of voters don’t want Biden to pursue another term in office. In the accompanying video, DeSantis’s team panned Biden on a host of issues such as elevated levels of crime, an immigration crisis, and inflation while chiding, “Joe, we’d rather you not finish the job.”

DeSantis has not yet announced a run for president.
Biden announced his reelection campaign in a video Tuesday, marking the four-year anniversary of his 2020 election debut. He framed the 2024 contest as a “battle for the soul of America” and railed against Republican extremism.
DeSantis was featured in the video during a still showing him huddling with former President Donald Trump.
“Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours. That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job,” Biden tweeted.

Much of Biden’s focus has been on Trump, the leading GOP 2024 aspirant. But some of his allies have slowly begun prepping attacks against DeSantis, who has consistently polled in second place among a hypothetical field.
“DeSantis has spent a lot of his time fighting culture wars,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE), a national co-chair on Biden’s campaign, told CNN Tuesday. “I’m not sure will succeed in helping him win over skeptical independent suburban voters.”

The governor has foreshadowed that if he enters the race, he will focus heavily on Biden, having largely refrained from taking on Trump directly. Recently during his four-country “international trade mission,” DeSantis drew contrast with Biden on foreign policy.
“I think clearly, we don’t have a lot of strength under Biden. But I think fortifying our forces in the Pacific, I think we need more naval strength to be able to project power. And we cannot allow the CCP to produce every critical part of our economy. We rely on them for almost everything,” he told Fox News’s Sean Hannity.
