WATCH: Former Trump staffer blames Fox News for ‘teeing him back up to be the nominee again’

The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin slammed Fox News on Wednesday, claiming the channel is pushing for former President Donald Trump to be the Republican nominee for president again in 2024.
“They’re teeing [Trump] back up to be the nominee again,” she said. “Because it’s good for their bottom line.”

Griffin added that “It’s all about money. It’s not about our country.”
However, Fox News has remained the most-watched cable news network throughout the administrations of former President Barack Obama, Trump, and President Joe Biden.
The hosts were reacting to the news that Fox News had reached a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems in the company’s defamation lawsuit alleging the network aired false claims that it rigged the 2020 presidential election against Trump.

The announcement came after jury selection for the expected trial came to a close on Tuesday. Attorney Justin Nelson for Dominion said the settlement was for more than $787 million.
Griffin laughed to her co-hosts that “this all came out because one man could not admit that he lost the election. Like when you stop and think about just the damages caused by Donald Trump lying about the election, you know, $787 million … the hundreds of people who have been put in jail because they believed his lies and stormed the Capitol, rightly so, the, you know, careers and lives ruined over it.”
According to Griffin, who served as White House director of strategic communications under Trump, “What frustrates me is, yes, the Fox audience is still being lied to, but new polling — and again, I’m always skeptical of the polling — has Trump in New Hampshire at 51%.”
“Ron DeSantis is at 18%,” she added. “This guy is going to be the Republican nominee again.”
Fox News did not offer comment to the Washington Examiner.

Notably, at this point in the campaign season for the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, front-runners in a hypothetical GOP primary were former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Trump did not announce his candidacy until that summer.
