U.S. special presidential envoy for climate John Kerry tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday while at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Egypt.
Kerry, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, is self-isolating in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, while final negotiations are underway for a new agreement on combating climate change.

The conference, which is scheduled to end Friday, has been centered on negotiating a new deal for countries to jointly fight global warming, with talks stalling as diplomats argue over topics related to recovery funds for poorer countries.
Kerry is reportedly thinking about stepping down from his role as climate envoy after the U.N. conference. The Biden administration has said Kerry “has no plans to depart” his role.
