“Pride Nite” is headed to the Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland announced Thursday.

The California park will host what is being touted as its official LGBT “Pride Nite” festivities from June 13 to June 15, Disney posted to social media. According to the park, this will be its first after-hours event in celebration of pride.

“Disneyland Park will host the first ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite during a separately ticketed evening event,” a statement from Disney read. “Guests can enjoy special after-hours park access to shorter attraction wait times, special entertainment, Character experiences, photo opportunities and much more!”

Between 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., visitors will be able to partake in dance parties with their favorite Disney characters in “special attire” amid “pride-themed backdrops,” according to park officials.

For many, the notion of “Pride Nite” alludes to Disney’s unofficial “Gay Days,” which were after-hour activities put on for private parties, a report noted.

“In the wake of everything that’s happening to the country, that Disney is coming out in support of the community and inviting the community in, in this way, I think is a great thing,” Eddie Shapiro, an organizer with Gay Days Anaheim, said.

“Disney is obviously saying out loud, ‘We as a company are not cowed by [events in Florida],’ nor should they be,” Shapiro added. “I’m glad that they’re saying that.”

The organizer also recognized the influence of Disney’s unofficial “Gay Days” on their new official “Pride Nite.”

“I think it’s kind of funny that 25 years later, Disney is ready not to have an unofficial thing but an official thing, and we’re back to having an after-hours, late-night event,” Shapiro said.

Tickets for “Pride Nite” start at $139 for visitors aged three years old and up, according to Disney.
