The judge who is presiding over the Manhattan case involving former President Donald Trump has reportedly received threats to himself and his family.
Judge Juan Merchan has received “dozens” of threats, while other Manhattan officials, including District Attorney Alvin Bragg, have also received continuous threats, according to a report from NBC News.

The report cites multiple sources who say the various officials tied to the case alleging Trump falsified business records in an attempt to conceal a crime have received numerous threats. A timeline for when the threats have been made against the officials was not specified.
Trump and prosecutors were warned during the arraignment Tuesday about publicly discussing the case in a manner that could incite violence or unrest, but Merchan did not place a gag order on the former president. A gag order would have prevented Trump from discussing the case publicly.
Prior to the arraignment, Trump criticized Merchan in a post on Truth Social by calling him “highly partisan” and discussing how Merchan’s daughter allegedly worked for Kamala Harris’s 2020 presidential campaign.
“VERY UNFAIR VENUE, WITH SOME AREAS THAT VOTED 1% REPUBLICAN. THIS CASE SHOULD BE MOVED TO NEARBY STATEN ISLAND – WOULD BE A VERY FAIR AND SECURE LOCATION FOR THE TRIAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE HIGHLY PARTISAN JUDGE & HIS FAMILY ARE WELL KNOWN TRUMP HATERS. HE WAS AN UNFAIR DISASTER ON A PREVIOUS TRUMP RELATED CASE, WOULDN’T RECUSE, GAVE HORRIBLE JURY INSTRUCTIONS, & IMPOSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH DURING THE WITCH HUNT TRIAL. HIS DAUGHTER WORKED FOR “KAMALA” & NOW THE BIDEN-HARRIS CAMPAIGN. KANGAROO COURT,” Trump wrote.
Trump’s lawyers have defended the former president’s remarks on the judge and the district attorney, saying he is noting conflicts of interest.

“He’s not going after the judge. He noted there were some issues that might cause a conflict,” Susan Necheles, a lawyer for Trump, said to reporters on Tuesday.
Trump pleaded not guilty to the 34 criminal counts against him in the Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday. The indictment follows an investigation into hush money payments he made to two women in 2016 ahead of the presidential election.
