The deadline to file taxes is quickly approaching, and ahead of it, the Internal Revenue Service will open another walk-in day for several Taxpayer Assistance Centers across the United States to help taxpayers.
These centers will be open to the public on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will provide face-to-face help to taxpayers. During this time, these centers will accept walk-ins and will not require people to make a reservation ahead of time, unlike how these centers normally operate throughout the week, according to the IRS.
TAX SEASON 2023: IRS WARNS OF SCAMS AIMED AT HIGH-INCOME FILERS
“During these special openings, taxpayers can get walk-in service for in-person help on many tax matters,” Taxpayer Experience Officer Ken Corbin said. “These extra weekend hours are to enable the nation’s taxpayers to effectively resolve their tax account concerns in ways that are most convenient for them.”
Taxpayers who have questions about a tax bill or IRS audit can receive help from employees who specialize in those services. While tax return preparation will not be offered at these centers, taxpayers can receive information on local free tax preparation options available to them.
Anyone planning to visit these centers ought to bring government-issued ID cards, all of their household members’ Social Security cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers, any IRS notices they may have received, and two forms of identification. Taxpayers should also know that IRS staff may ask for a current mailing address and proof of bank account information included on a tax return when visiting these assistance centers.

This marks the third time these centers will have walk-in appointments for this tax season, with the previous two times being on February 11 and March 11. A final walk-in day will be available on May 13.
A full list of the centers participating in this Saturday’s walk-in appointments is available on the IRS’s website.
