Footage is going viral of a National Guardsman running to save an immigrant child after it was abandoned at the border and stranded in the middle of the Rio Grande.

“Security video from a contact shows what appears to be an abandoned migrant child on a flotation device drifting down the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass, TX — alone,” according to a Sunday post sharing the footage.

“A Texas National Guard soldier can be seen rushing in to try to help.”

The child can be seen deserted in the middle of a river when the guardsman appears and begins running to the bank, according to the footage.

“[We] are told the child was later rescued,” the post read.

This latest rescue comes in the wake of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s refusal to recognize the situation at the southern border as a crisis.
