Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has reportedly told donors in New York that he is the only Republican presidential contender who can beat President Joe Biden in the 2024 election.

The Florida governor has been making the pitch to wealthy donors in the Empire State, including to billionaire GOP donor Ronald Lauder, per Politico.

TRUMP TRAILS DESANTIS IN EVERY METRIC EXCEPT WHO WOULD WIN GOP PRIMARY: POLL

The report, citing an anonymous New York businessman, said the pitch by DeSantis was that he is “no drama” and “no chaos,” with the Florida governor insisting he is “calm, cool and collected.”

DeSantis has not said whether he will run for the presidency in 2024, but reports suggest he will announce a White House bid in late May or early June after the state’s legislative session concludes.

Polls indicate that DeSantis has higher marks than Trump in nearly all metrics in a recent Quinnipiac University poll, except for in who would win in a Republican primary.

A plurality of adults in the polls said DeSantis was honest, 41%-40%, versus Trump, who was rated as not honest by a majority, 65%-29%, and DeSantis held a significantly lower unfavorable rating, 39%, when compared with Trump, 58%.

DeSantis also would beat Biden in a general election, 48%-46%, whereas Trump would lose to Biden, 46%-48%, per the survey.

In the GOP primary, Trump leads the Florida governor 52%-42% in a head-to-head race and by 14% in a wide field of Republican candidates, per the poll.

Both Trump and DeSantis are widely viewed as the frontrunners for the Republican primary, with Trump recently holding leads in polls over DeSantis. The former president has recently begun to attack DeSantis more, including alleging that Florida taxpayers are footing the bill for DeSantis’s “campaign travel.”
