Most registered Democrats, 89%, and independents, 64%, do not want Trump to be president again. That’s a sizable contrast from registered Republicans — 76% of whom want Trump to be reelected.
Trump saw lukewarm numbers with white evangelical Christians, who want Trump to be president again by a 55%-41% margin, and 17% of those who voted for Trump in 2020 say they do not want him to be president again. Eighty-one percent of past Trump voters said they wanted another Trump presidency.

The survey also showed that a majority of adults, 56%, think the investigations into Trump are “fair,” while 41% believe they are a “witch hunt,” as the former president has proclaimed. A plurality of adults, 46%, think Trump did something illegal, 29% think he did something unethical but not illegal, and 23% say he did nothing wrong.
The poll was conducted with 1,327 adults, 1,226 of whom are registered voters, from March 20-23. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Prosecutors in Manhattan have been investigating Trump. They’re looking into possibly falsified business records concerning a $130,000 reimbursement of his then-lawyer Michael Cohen for paying off Stormy Daniels. The money was reported as a legal expense in 2016 during Trump’s campaign.
An indictment of Trump by the New York City grand jury could come as soon as this week. It was widely speculated that he would be charged last week.
