Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thinks it was a mistake for President Joe Biden to call out former President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) by name.

Pelosi fears Biden’s words could prove especially helpful to Greene’s fundraising coffers.

A ‘LIBERATED’ PELOSI SAYS NEW BOOK WILL TACKLE GOP AND SUPREME COURT NARROWING DEMOCRACY

“He’s going to raise her a million dollars by mentioning her name,” Pelosi said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, after Biden singled out Greene in his speech rolling out his federal budget proposal. The Georgia lawmaker has a history of incendiary statements and espousing conspiracy theories.

Greene’s profile has been rising recently, as she is now back on House Committees in this session of Congress. Previously, the House voted to remove Greene from her committees in February 2021, with 11 Republicans joining Democrats in booting her from her panels when a slew of controversial social media posts emerged from before she was in Congress. This included antisemitic comments, accusations the Parkland shooting was a false flag, and remarks propagating the QAnon conspiracy theory.

Pelosi, who specifically avoids mentioning Trump by name, also cringed when Biden alluded to Trump as “the former president and maybe future president,” according to the report.

“Oh, please. Don’t even say such a thing,” she said in response to the speech. “That isn’t even kidding. That’s horrible.”

The former House speaker’s statements come as she is embracing a newfound freedom after two decades in Democratic leadership, giving her more flexibility to express herself, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In the interview she also criticized her successor, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), after he released over 40,000 hours of Capitol Police footage from Jan. 6, 2021 to Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson.

“That was in keeping with their home address: reckless,” Pelosi said. “That’s what all roads lead to with the Republicans: reckless.”

Pelosi said she plans to be more vocal about preserving the nation’s democracy, telling the Los Angeles Times she is currently writing a book.
