Eligible Montana residents could receive up to $3,000 in multiple tax rebates over the summer.
Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) signed into law House Bills 192 and 222 on March 13, which provide rebates for residents’ individual income taxes and property taxes. In order to qualify, residents must have filed their individual income taxes for 2020 and 2021 on time, have been full-time residents for all of 2020 and 2021, and not have been claimed by someone else as a dependent. To be eligible for HB 222, residents must simply have owned property in Montana for at least seven months.

HB 192 offers the majority of possible funds, with a maximum of $2,500 for couples filing jointly and $1,250 for people filing individually. HB 222 gives eligible residents a lump sum of $500.
Montana’s Department of Revenue will start issuing individual income tax rebates starting in July and property tax rebates starting on Aug. 15.
