Air Force veteran lands $1 million prize in lottery scratch-off win

Air Force veteran Kerim Akel won a $1 million prize from a recent lottery scratch-off game in Florida.
Akel, a 67-year-old retired electrical engineer, won the prize after playing Florida’s 500X The Cash scratch-off game.

The Air Force veteran claimed his winnings at the lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee, Florida, chasing to receive the prize money in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000, according to the Florida Lottery.
Akel said he purchased his winning ticket at a nearby Publix grocery store in Navarre, Florida.

The 500X The Cash scratch-off game tickets cost $50 with a top prize of $25 million. According to the lottery, the odds of winning are 1-4.50.
