Twitter suffered problems Monday with broken links, images, and third-party apps.

Users reported on Monday that instead of the content they wanted posted, they were shown a black box that stated, “Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint.” The problem arose as Twitter works with a diminished staff and tries to adapt to the new owner, Elon Musk, and his vision.

“Twitter is currently experiencing international slowdowns and outages affecting many users, also impacting image and video content; incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering,” NetBlocks tweeted. The issue was resolved around 1:15 EST, with the company stating that things should be “Working as normal.”

“Some parts of Twitter may not be working as expected right now,” the company’s support account said on Monday. “We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We’re working on this now and will share an update when it’s fixed.”

“A small API change had massive ramifications. The code stack is extremely brittle for no good reason,” Musk tweeted.

Twitter’s staff had shrunk to less than 2,000 after the latest round of layoffs last week, leaving the team with thousands less staff than before Musk took Twitter over in October.
