Nearly a week after the midterm election, the party in the majority in the House of Representatives is still unknown as votes continue to be counted in various states.

California has the most House races yet to be called, with 12 of the 20 outstanding seats residing in the Golden State. Democrats are guaranteed to win one of them, California’s 34th District, with a Democrat vs. Democrat matchup. The other states with outstanding races include Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Maine, New York, and Oregon.

Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report, in his analysis of the remaining races, said Democrats would need a “miracle” to win the majority in the House in a tweet Sunday evening.

Republicans are leading or expected to gain enough votes in enough of the races to get above the 218-seat threshold to have a majority in the House of Representatives.

Here are the races yet to be called by the Associated Press and where they stand, per Wasserman’s analysis:

Alaska At-Large: Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola leads Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich in a race that will be determined by ranked choice voting later this month. Democrats are favored to hold this seat.

Arizona 1st District: Rep. David Schweikert (R) currently leads Jevin Hodge by nearly 900 votes, with 94% of the vote counted. This race appears to favor the Republican.

Arizona 6th District: Republican Juan Ciscomani leads Democrat Kirsten Engel by roughly 1,700 votes, with 89% of the vote counted. This race appears to favor the Republican.

California 3rd District: Republican Kevin Kiley leads Democrat Kermit Jones by roughly 10,000 votes, with 52% of the vote counted. This race appears to favor the Republican.

California 6th District: Democrat Ami Bera leads Republican Tamika Hamilton by 11,000 votes, with 52% of the vote counted. This race appears to be favoring the Democrat.

Republicans only need to win six of the remaining races to gain control of the House, but if the margin of majority is slim, it may be hard for the GOP to govern effectively.
